Ed Sheeran’s Indian tour has been a spectacle of surprises and celebration of musical fusion with unexpected collaborations. Following his much-talked-about performances with Armaan Malik in Hyderabad and A.R. Rahman in Chennai, he amazed fans in Bengaluru by singing alongside Indian playback singer Shilpa Rao.
Following his electrifying duet with legendary music director AR Rahman on the iconic Urvasi song, Sheeran created yet another memorable moment with Shilpa Rao by singing his first Telugu song, Chuttamalle, from Devara: Part 1, starring Jr. NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, with music by Rockstar Anirudh Ravichander.
The global music sensation took everyone by surprise in his recent Bengaluru concert on February 9. His rendition of the song in Telugu left fans in awe, highlighting his deep appreciation for Indian music and culture.
The renowned British singer-songwriter later shared a video of the performance on Instagram, expressing admiration for Shilpa Rao’s voice and his excitement about learning a new language. He wrote, “Obsessed with Shilpa Rao’s voice for the last while, a real privilege to share the stage tonight, and learn a new language!”
Videos from the concert have gone viral and are doing the rounds on the internet. His performance even caught the attention of Devara stars, with Janhvi Kapoor calling it, “What a crossover to wake up to.” Jr. NTR also applauded the singer and wrote, “Music has no boundaries and you proved it again Ed! Hearing you sing Chuttamalle in Telugu is truly special.”
