Hyderabad: Nandamuri Balakrishna, a veteran actor and politician who has contributed over 50 years to the film industry, was recently honored with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India. Balakrishna, who also serves as an MLA and the Chairman of the Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital, was congratulated by numerous film industry leaders following the announcement.
Representatives from 10 major associations and unions within the Telugu film industry, including Bharat Bhushan (President of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce), Tummala Prasanna Kumar (Treasurer of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce), Damodhar Prasad (President of the Telugu Film Producers Council), Madhala Ravi (Vice President of MAA), Anupam Reddy (Secretary of the Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce), and several others from the Telugu Film Writers Association, Film Production Executives Union, Junior Artists Union, and Stunt Directors and Artists Union, visited Balakrishna’s residence to offer their congratulations.
Speaking at the gathering, the leaders expressed their pride in Balakrishna’s achievement, noting that his recognition was a tribute not only to his acting career but also to his significant contributions to the film industry and society. In response, Balakrishna expressed his gratitude, acknowledging that the Padma Bhushan was an honor not only for him and his family but also for the entire Telugu film industry. He further emphasized that receiving the award had heightened his sense of responsibility.
