Kurnool Congress office `Enroachment’ creates A stir

The issue of ‘party office encroachment’ is creating a stir in the Kurnool District Congress. The Kurnool District Congress Committee office (Kala Venkatrao Bhavan) is located near Kondareddy Buruju. The 33 cents of land where the office is located is worth over Rs. 16 crores.

The present DCC president Parigela Murali Krishna registered a private society with seven people as its president, which has caused a stir in the party. PCC president YS Sharmila Reddy has ordered an inquiry into this and a report to be submitted. Following this, the party leaders filed a complaint at the Kurnool Two Town Police Station on Thursday.

Former Kodumuru MLA Muralikrishna, who was in the YSRCP till the elections, joined the Congress after not getting a ticket from that party. He has been the DCC president for the last five months. He is earning Rs. 1.80 lakhs per month from the 15 shops under the DCC office.

A section of the party is alleging that Murali Krishna has taken this step as part of a conspiracy to register a private society without the permission of the AICC and PCC and without a resolution from the District Congress Committee and to seize office properties under its purview.

The registration of office attendants and sweepers while giving them key positions like secretary and treasurer raises suspicions. Sharmila has entrusted the investigation into the seizure allegations to former PCC chief Gidugu Rudra Raju. Sharmila said that it has come to her notice that Murali Krishna created false documents to register party properties as his own and committed irregularities.

Nandyal District Congress President J. Lakshminarasimha Yadav and several other leaders alleged that Muralikrishna registered the society as part of a seizure conspiracy. He said that he had hatched a conspiracy to declare himself the owner of Congress properties and had included clerks and sweepers as members of the society.

He questioned what was the motive behind taking the decision without informing the PCC and DCC. He said that he had filed a complaint at the police station as per the orders of the high command and would file a complaint with the DIG of the Stamps and Registration Department for the cancellation of the society’s registration.

However,  Murali Krishna said that he had registered the society for this KYC and that the society had been cancelled. He said that some people were trying to defame the Congress. He said that his family was financially well off and he did not need the Congress properties. He said that the society was registered only on the basis of the resolution of the District Congress Committee on September 14 last year.
