CPM Leader Brinda Karat says only way To Resist BJP Is To Raise A Red Flag

CPM Politburo member and former MP Brinda Karat said that the only way to resist the `manuvad’ and corporate BJP is to raise a red flag, there is no going back, and it is only forward. She called on the people to come together to strengthen the movement, along with other left parties, to mobilize democratic forces in the fight against the BJP.

Addressing a massive public meeting in Nellore organised by state CPM on Monday to mark the conclusion of three-day state conference, she lamented that the budget presented by the central government two days ago is anti-people and pro-rich, and she urged people to protest such a fraudulent budget.

She deplored that even though the Modi government did injustice to Andhra Pradesh in the budget, and did not allocate funds for the state, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu kept his mouth shut without saying a single word. Then, she asked why did Babu go to Delhi? Was it for a special Status? for Polavaram funds? Did he ask for bifurcation guarantees? Did he talk about Visakhapatnam steel?

Brunda Karat accused that Naidu pasted fevicol on his lips and was unable to ask the center anything related to the state. She lamented that the policies of  BJP are eroding constitutional values. Attacks are being carried out targeting minorities. Innocent Muslim youth are being targeted. They are dividing the society and inciting hatred, she added.

Alleging that the Modi government is running on the RSS agenda, she asserted that the CPM is the only ones who are directly opposing it. She accused that some parties are cursing the BJP and joining hands behind it. “We are not like that. Even in adverse circumstances and despite setbacks, the red flag will not back down in fighting the BJP”, she added.

Brinda Karat said that the budget proposed by the Modi government is pro-rich and anti-people. There is nothing in the budget for the welfare of the people. Everything is cut. She alleged that than one lakh crores of funds have been cut.

Not a single rupee has been given extra for scheme workers, welfare of workers, and employment guarantee. She wondered that while farmers are agitating for minimum support price (MSP) for crops, not a single rupee has been allocated for it. At the same time, she said that not a single rupee has been increased in tax on the rich.
