Telangana Completes Caste Census And Family Survey, Report Submitted To Cabinet Sub-Committee**

The Telangana government has completed its caste census and comprehensive family survey, with the Planning Commission today submitting the survey report to the Cabinet sub-committee. The survey, covering a total of 3.54 crore people, revealed that 96.9% of families were surveyed, while 3.1% of individuals did not participate. The report highlights that the Backward Class (BC) population makes up 55.85% of the state’s total.

In a press briefing, Cabinet sub-committee Chairman and Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that this is the first such survey of its kind in India. He expressed his gratitude to Chief Secretary Shanthikumari, other IAS officers, district collectors, and enumerators for their diligent work in executing the survey with precision and efficiency.

Minister Reddy confirmed that the caste census report would be presented in the Assembly and noted that the survey was completed within 50 days. He emphasized that the initiative was aligned with Rahul Gandhi’s vision for a social and caste-based census, aimed at advancing social justice. Reddy reaffirmed that the primary goal of the Congress-led government is to ensure justice for backward communities.
