Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy expressed his anger at the irrigation officials for their negligence in executing the Amrutdhara scheme that was launched with the aim of providing drinking water in the combined Nellore district by 2058. He said that the AP government’s goal is to provide drinking water to villages in 46 mandals through this scheme and Rs. 8400 crores of funds have been released.
But, he deplored that the irrigation officials have failed to prepare DPRs for the Amrutdhara scheme by giving an unclear report on this project to the government. He warned them to change this trend immediately and reprimanded them not to do half-hearted work. He said that the officials should get busy with their work and send the correct DPR.
He was angry that the officials are behaving as if they know the rule. Stating that he needed to explain about it in the cabinet on Saturday, he asked who would be responsible if the project work was stopped midway due to an incomplete report. He said that the officials should examine the projects at the field level.
Minister Ramanarayana Reddy said that if the funds provided by the central government are not utilized properly and wasted. He said that the main purpose of the Amrutdhara scheme is to improve the rural system and provide purified water to the people. He lamented that the previous YSRCP government neglected to utilize the central schemes and opportunities.
He said that the coalition government has started the Jaljeevan Mission scheme and their goal is to provide drinking water to everyone by installing taps in the villages. He said that CM Chandrababu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan are paying special attention to make this scheme successful in the state.
He said that the government’s plan is to set up the Amrutdhara scheme wherever there are big reservoirs and projects and the government’s intention is to provide drinking water to 23 mandals from Somasila and another 23 mandals from the Kandaleru project.
The Minister said that drinking water will be provided to 46 mandals of the united Nellore district with a target of Rs. 8,400 crores by the year 2058. He said that 1.5 TMCs will be used from Somasila and 2.6 TMCs from Kandaleru. He said that old reservoirs will be removed and new ones will be built in their place.
