Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s team returned from Davos without making any specific agreements with anyone regarding investments. While the Chief Minister of Telangana Revanth Reddy made agreements regarding investments worth Rs. 1.79 lakh crore, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made agreements worth Rs. 15 lakh crore, but Chandrababu returned almost empty-handed.
CM Chandrababu took pains to explain the industry-friendly policies of AP on the world stage through the World Economic Forum conference. He detailed his government’s policies, opportunities and ideas and invited giant companies to invest.
Face-to-face meetings, conferences and discussions were held. He held discussions with world-class companies and CEOs from Mer SK to Microsoft. It is now said that CM Chandrababu’s team has succeeded in network expansion and brand promotion.
Many consider this to be a disappointing trip for Nara Lokesh, who went to Davos for the first time with his father for investments. However, the government sources claim that many industrialists have promised to visit AP and explore possibilities of investments in the state.
It is noteworthy that Chandrababu Naidu said on this occasion that he is the senior leader among the central and state ministers who have gone to Davos. He has gone many times in the past, even when earlier he was the Chief Minister.
However, there is a suspicion that he went this time without making proper preparations. The reason for this is the lack of a positive environment to attract new investments due to the lack of positive economic conditions in the state.
Has the AP government failed to show a clear positive environment like in Telangana and Maharashtra? Now the financial conditions of the state, opportunities for investment, land bank details are clearly visible on the websites. But there is criticism that the AP government is relying on old methods by preparing brochures like a real estate agent and spending crores of rupees on advertising through English media.
In the past, even YS Jaganmohan Reddy announced that agreements worth more than Rs. 1.20 lakh crore had been signed in 2022. But not a single agreement had materialized. Moreover, in 2023, he did not go to Davos at all. Is Chandrababu Naidu, who came to power saying that his goal is to increase wealth, yet to make more efforts to steer the government in that direction?
