I Could Retire Happily: Rashmika Mandanna

Mumbai: The much-anticipated period drama Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, is set to hit screens on February 14. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film chronicles the life of Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The trailer was unveiled at a grand event in Mumbai, where Rashmika shared her experience of portraying Yesubai, Sambhaji Maharaj’s wife.

Speaking at the event, Rashmika said, “Playing Yesubai in Chhaava has been an honor. It’s a role so impactful that I once told the director that I could happily retire after this movie. The character moved me deeply, and I found myself emotional many times during the shoot and even while watching the trailer. Vicky Kaushal’s portrayal of Sambhaji Maharaj is exceptional, he looks like a god in this film.”

Rashmika revealed her surprise when director Laxman Utekar approached her for the role and immediately accepted the offer without hesitation. “I rehearsed extensively for this role, and the team provided immense support throughout. This film and its characters will leave a lasting impression on audiences,” she added.

The trailer has received an overwhelming response, with powerful dialogues like, “There may be no lion, but the lion’s heir is still alive. Dare to challenge the Marathas, and the Mughal Empire will cease to exist,” resonating strongly with viewers.

Rashmika, who recently suffered a leg injury during a gym workout, attended the trailer launch despite her condition. Vicky Kaushal was seen assisting her on stage, and videos of their interaction have since gone viral, drawing admiration from fans.

With its grand visuals and emotionally charged performances, Chhaava is already generating buzz as one of the year’s most awaited films.
