YS Sharmila Slams Amit Shah Over Comments on YSRCP Rule

YS Sharmila, the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief, has unleashed a scathing attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his recent remarks that slammed the governance of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) during its five-year rule in Andhra Pradesh. Sharmila said that the comments made by Shah were so hypocritical that even a chameleon would be ashamed of it.

Criticism of Amit Shah’s Inaction
Sharmila accused Shah of staying passive while Andhra Pradesh allegedly suffered under YSRCP’s misrule. She questioned whether the Home Minister simply watched from Delhi as problems escalated in the state. “If there was destruction happening, why didn’t you intervene? Were you just observing it like a spectator?” she asked.

The APCC leader also questioned Shah’s failure to hold Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy accountable when the Polavaram project was delayed under the guise of reverse tendering.

Central Government’s Silence Under Fire
Expressing her disappointment with the BJP-led central government, Sharmila pointed to what she described as a series of failures. These included Andhra Pradesh functioning without a capital for five years and the state allegedly amassing ₹10 lakh crore in debts. “How did this chaos escape your attention all these years?” she asked.

Sharmila also highlighted the government’s inaction regarding the alleged murder case of Jagan’s uncle. “When people were fighting for justice at the national level, why did the Home Ministry remain silent?” she demanded.

Allegations of BJP-YSRCP Collusion
The Congress leader accused the BJP of exploiting its alliance with YSRCP to serve its own interests. She claimed that the BJP treated Jagan as a political puppet, benefiting from the state’s resources while ensuring that the YSRCP government acted as a rubber stamp for central policies.

“For five years, you partnered with YSRCP, looted the state’s wealth, and now you’re shedding crocodile tears over so-called destruction. Andhra Pradesh’s people won’t fall for this act,” she declared.

Holding BJP Accountable
Sharmila argued that just as Jagan was ahead in misgovernance, the BJP government was its equal. She accused the BJP of making false promises during bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and termed the new promises about finance and development as merely saying something which rings hollow.

Demand for Action
In her concluding remarks, Sharmila challenged Shah to back his words with action. “If you truly believe in what you’ve said, initiate an independent investigation into YSRCP’s governance using central agencies,” she demanded.

Sharmila’s fiery remarks have heightened the political tensions in Andhra Pradesh, putting both the BJP and YSRCP under intense scrutiny as the state heads toward another election cycle.
