Telangana Jagruti President and MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has demanded that the Telangana government organize the centenary celebrations of Daasarathi Krishnamacharyulu, the popular poet who filled the Telangana armed struggle with vitality and the pen warrior who poured fire on oppression.
To this end, she has written a letter to the state Culture and Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao. She has requested that a statue of Daasarathi be installed at a prominent intersection in Hyderabad and honored him. She suggested that the government should establish a memorial for him in Chinna Gudur village of Mahabubabad district, where Daasarathi was born, and construct a new building for the Daasarathi library established by the villagers.
She also suggested that the government should print Daasarathi’s comprehensive literature and keep it in the library and make it accessible to everyone. She reminded that the government has already announced that the government will officially organize the Dasharathi centenary celebrations throughout the year. However, she deplored there are no records of any major events in that regard.
She said that the government should organize the closing ceremonies of the centenary celebrations on a large scale from the school level to the state level. She said that she has already spent some funds to set up a Dasharathi memorial complex in the old jail of Nizamabad district, where Dasharathi was kept, and she asked the government to make more arrangements and repairs to make it accessible to everyone and make it a popular tourist destination.
She reminded that the first Telangana government led by the first Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, has officially celebrated Dasharathi Jayanti since 2015 to continue the spirit of the great poet Dasharathi. She said that the ‘Dasarathi Literary Award’ was established and honored at the Ravindra Bharathi venue and a cash prize of Rs. 1,01,116 was provided.
She also explained that the auditorium at the Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resource Development Center was named after Dasarathi Auditorium and his son was given a job by the previous Telangana government to support his family. ‘They are creators who not only stood by the people in the Telangana liberation struggle but also created literature in many writing genres’, she said.
