The issue of new districts has once again come to the fore in Andhra Pradesh. It may be recalled that the number of districts in the state has been increased to 26 from 13 in the past. However, even after the division of districts, the issue of forming some more new districts has come to the fore.
Mainly, there was a demand to make Markapur a separate district in Prakasam district. During the elections, the alliance promised to make Markapur a new district. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu himself made the announcement during the election campaign.
Now, once again, the issue of a new district of Markapur has come to the fore. Ministers Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy and Gottipati Ravikumar made key comments in this regard. There were huge additions to the TDP from YSRCP in Markapur.
Former Markapur Agricultural Market Yard Chairman Guntaka Subba Reddy, former Municipal Vice Chairman Shekshavali, Municipal Councilors, and about 2000 leaders and activists resigned from YSRCP and joined TDP.
The ministers said that the joining of other parties to TDP is continuing with Chandrababu’s rule and welfare schemes. The ministers said that the lifeline of Prakasam district, the Pulasubbayya Veligonda project, will be completed quickly.
Moreover, they announced that the government is willing to form Markapur as a separate district and steps will be taken to this end. Ministers Swamy and Ravi said that they have already brought it to the attention of Chief Minister Chandrababu to form a separate district with five constituencies in the western region of Markapur.
They also said that the government will release a job calendar for massive job recruitment. The government’s goal is to provide jobs and employment to unemployed youth. The ministers said that 1,200 tribal villages in the state have been provided with electricity. Overall, the comments made by the ministers on the formation of the new district have become interesting.
