As the controversy surrounding actor Allu Arjun’s arrest refuses to boil down, Tollywood is likely to witness another arrest very soon as the Telangana High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail petition of veteran artist Manchu Mohan Babu in the case relating to the physical assualt of a journalist. The High Court also didn’t agree to the request of the advocate to issue directions to the lower court for grant of bail on the same day when the actor turns up for enquiry in the case.
On December 10th, Mohan Babu attacked TV9 journalist Muppidi Ranjith with a mike forcefully, leaving him seriously injured. The incident happened at Jalpally farm house during a confrontation with his younger son Manchu Manoj Kumar in the ongoing property issues. Ranjith was among other who went into the house along with Manoj Kumar. In a fit of anger, Mohan Babu pulled the mike and hit him instantly. A case of attempt for murder was immediately registered on Mohan Babu.
Mohan Babu’s lawyer argued that the actor has never met the journalist before the incident and has no intention to attack him. He contended that the sections in the case won’t commensurate with the incident and stated that it was done in the heat of moment as anti-social elements tried to barge into his home. He informed that Court that the actor has been suffering from heart related ailments along with issues wit nerves and Alzheimer’s disease and sought relief in the case.
The lawyer stated that Mohan Babu recently returned from Dubai and is currently in Tirupati to look after his educational institutes. But, the Court didn’t entertain the request and struck down the bail petition. The public prosecutor argued that the sections in the case were included only after taking statements from the accused. He requested the Court to cancel the bail petition and direct him to attend further enquiry in the case.
With the dismissal of the bail petition, the Rachakonda Police are getting ready to arrest Mohan Babu and make a detailed enquiry in the case.
