The High Court has directly questioned the AP CID as to why former Intelligence Bureau chief PSR Anjaneyulu, who is an accused in the Mumbai film actress Jethwani Kadambari’s illegal arrest case, has not been arrested so far? It reminded that he had not even filed an anticipatory bail petition.
The High Court, after hearing the arguments from both sides on the petitions filed by IPS officers Kantirana Tatha, Vishal Gunni and others for anticipatory bail in the case registered by the Ibrahimpatnam police on the complaint of the film actress, has reserved its verdict. The decision will be announced on January 7.
The High Court has also asked is PSR Anjaneyulu, the second accused in the case, currently available? Or has he absconded? It has made it clear that details of the entire matter should be submitted. Responding to the questions asked by the court, the AG said that the arrest matter is the discretion of the investigating officer.
He said that if arrest is the only way to get the facts, he will make an arrest. Since no steps are being taken to arrest anyone, the petitioners cannot seek anticipatory bail. The investigating officer said there is no need to arrest the accused in a row.
However, he objected to anticipatory bail petitions and said that granting anticipatory bail to the petitioners would hamper the investigation. He said that custodial interrogation of the accused is necessary to uncover the conspiracy behind the registration of a case against the Mumbai actress and her arrest.
High Court Judge Justice VRK Krupasagar said that the decision on the bail petitions will be announced on January 7 after the arguments from both sides are over. IPS officers Kantirana Tatha, Vishal Gunni, then ACP of Vijayawada West Zone Hanumantha Rao, then CI of Ibrahimpatnam M. Satyanarayana, and advocate Inakollu Venkateswarlu filed petitions in the High Court for anticipatory bail.
Advocates Vasireddy Prabhunath and Narra Srinivasa Rao argued on behalf of the Mumbai actress. They said that the Police officers went to Mumbai on the pretext of arresting them to prevent the Mumbai police from providing key evidence in the rape case filed by the film actress against an industrialist.
They said that the IPS officers acted inhumanely in the case of the actress. They said that the then state government, the former Chief Minister’s Office, and IPS officers were behind her harassment.
