The AP government has ordered an ACB inquiry into IPS officer Sanjay on the charges of misusing funds while he was the DG of the Fire Department and CID. The AP government has earlier ordered a Vigilance Enforcement inquiry into these allegations, which has submitted a report stating that there is primary evidence.
The AP government has suspended Sanjay on these allegations. To conduct the investigation, the ACB has sought permission from the Chief Secretary of the government under Section 17 A of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The government has issued instructions to the ACB to register a case immediately after receiving permission. Sanjay, who served as the CID chief in the Jagan government, has been accused of pocketing government money in the name of Dalits. As part of the curbing of crimes against SCs and STs, he spent only Rs 3 lakh to create awareness among them, but he allegedly grabbed Rs 1.16 crore of it.
The government has allocated Rs 32.44 crores for CID expenses in the 2023-24 budget to raise awareness among SCs and STs on the Atrocities Act. Contrary to the guidelines, a contract was signed with a private agency in a hurry to organize these programs. An agreement was made to spend Rs 1.19 crores.
In January this year, awareness programs were organized at 25 places, and government buildings were used at 24 places. Fake bills were issued as if they were paid for rent. While government furniture was used, acquaintances provided tea and snacks. The CID officers themselves took the videos with their cellphones. But they created fake bills that said they had spent lakhs for this.
They allegedly gave the responsibility of managing these programs to a private agency and drew Rs. 1.19 crore. A total of Rs. 3.10 lakhs was spent and Rs. 1.16 crore was withdrawn. Suspicions were expressed in CID circles at that time as to whether that much money was spent?
After the coalition government came to power, complaints were received and this robbery came to light after an investigation was conducted by the Vigilance Enforcement.
During the Jagan government, the AP CID called tenders to make appropriate arrangements for these meetings. Hyderabad-based companies Kritwap Technologies Private Limited, Sautrika Technologies Private Limited, and Meta Point Technologies Private Limited participated in these tenders. Kritwap Technologies was L-1 for ST meetings with Rs. 59,52,500 and L-1 for SC meetings with Rs. 59,51,100.
Teams sent by Vigilance and Enforcement DG Harish Kumar Gupta went to Hyderabad and investigated, it was found that there was no bidder by the name of Kritwap. It was revealed that this company is located in Vijayawada. It was also found that Sautrika Technologies is also located in Vijayawada. The investigation revealed that these two companies are one and the same.
