ACB Files Case Against KTR In Alleged Rs 55 Crore Formula E Scandal

K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), the working president of BRS and Telangana minister, is under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in connection with the alleged misallocation of Rs 55 crore related to the Formula E event in Hyderabad, held in February 2023.

The ACB claims that KTR gave verbal approval for diverting state funds to foreign event organizers. Former MAUD principal secretary Arvind Kumar has reportedly confessed to transferring the funds based on KTR’s verbal instructions, adding weight to the allegations.

The case was launched after the Telangana cabinet directed the Chief Secretary to prompt the ACB into action. Following this, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma granted the ACB permission to proceed with the prosecution of KTR, clearing the path for a thorough investigation into the alleged financial irregularities.

As the investigation takes shape, KTR will likely be summoned for questioning shortly. The case has sent shockwaves in public with the fear of government fund misuse, and now, eyes are on the ACB to act against those responsible.
