Amaravati: Chief Minister Chandrababu chaired the 43rd meeting of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) on Monday, focusing on the development of the state capital. The meeting was attended by Urban Development Minister Narayana, CRDA Commissioner, and other senior officials. Minister Narayana later addressed the media, detailing the significant decisions made during the session.
The CRDA approved the construction of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly complex across 103 acres. The assembly will feature a design allowing public access during non-session periods, with a viewing tower offering panoramic views of Amaravati.
A budget of ₹24,276 crore has been sanctioned for trunk roads, layouts, and iconic buildings, including approval for 151 kilometers of trunk roads. Minister Narayana also announced plans for the High Court complex, which will span 42.3 acres, stand 55 meters tall, and cost ₹1,048 crore.
The minister further revealed plans to construct 47 tower buildings, covering 17,03,433 square feet with basements and terraces, at an estimated cost of ₹4,608 crore. He confirmed that most tenders would be finalized by the end of December, and full-scale construction would begin in January 2025.
The total cost of Amaravati’s development is projected at ₹62,000 crore. Addressing criticism from the YSRCP, Minister Narayana clarified that CRDA does not determine project costs, which are finalized by a group of chief engineers. He emphasized the government’s commitment to transparency and efficient execution of the capital’s development.
