Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday directed the police to return the seized mobile phone of Huzurabad MLA Kaushik Reddy. The court emphasized that the seizure of the device must adhere to legal procedures, including prior notice.
The mobile was confiscated in connection with a case alleging that the MLA had obstructed the duties of the Banjara Hills CI. Kaushik Reddy, however, approached the High Court, contending that the police took his phone without issuing any notice.
During the hearing, the government’s counsel argued that the mobile was required for forensic examination and alleged that the MLA was conspiring against the government. Responding to these claims, the High Court instructed that any seizure must comply with established legal norms and ordered the police to return the device to Kaushik Reddy.
