In a strategic move, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has appealed to Union Coal and Mines Minister Kishan Reddy to work towards supporting the central government for various development works in Telangana. Meeting the BJP state chief at his official residence in New Delhi, he explained to him various pending issues with the Center, that are intended for the development of Telangana.
The issues include the Regional Ring Road (RRR), Hyderabad Metro Phase 2, the underground drainage plan, and the allocation of coal mines to the Singareni Company. He explained to him that the state government is eagerly waiting for the center’s clearance for projects worth a total of Rs. 1,63,559. 31 crore.
Revanth Reddy brought to the attention of the Union Minister that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced in 2022 that RRR would be constructed. He said that the state government has started the land acquisition for the northern part of RRR and that even though the tripartite agreement has been completed, NHAI has not given permission till now.
The CM reminded the Union Minister that the southern part of the RRR has not yet been approved. He asked him to work hard to get all the pending approvals from various central government departments for the completion of both sides of the RRR. He said that the total estimated cost of the project is Rs. 34,367.62 crore.
The CM explained that the cost of the metro corridor radial roads connecting the ORR along with 10 greenfield roads will be Rs. 45,000 crore. Revanth Reddy said that the cost of the construction of the total 76.4 km of metro rail to be built as part of Metro Phase 2 is estimated at Rs. 24,269 crore. He asked the Central and State Governments to jointly undertake Metro Phase 2 with a 50:50 share.
Revanth Reddy reminded that he has already requested Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to transfer 222.27 acres of land in Pridhi to the state government for the Gandhi Sarovar project being undertaken as part of the Musi River Front Development Project.
He said that along with the transfer of those lands, the construction of Gandhi Sarovar, Musi sewerage projects, construction of 11 heritage bridges and other works will cost an estimated Rs. 14,100 crore. He said that an underground drainage plan has been designed in Warangal, the second largest city in Telangana, and this plan, which costs Rs. 4.170 crore, has been taken up under Amrit 2 or a special scheme.
