As Telangana’s Congress government completes a year in power, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his team look at the completion of an achievement year with policy reforms that promise to change the lives of farmers. Post Assembly elections on November 30, 2023, and results on December 3, Congress made a historic return to power by winning 64 constituencies. On December 7, Revanth Reddy took oath as the Chief Minister.
The Congress party is hosting public welfare events across the state to mark this one-year milestone. CM Revanth Reddy, in a touching tweet, said how, a year ago, Telangana farmers made a very powerful decision at the polls by choosing change over the routine of their fields. That decision, he said, has played a pivotal role in reshaping the political narrative of the state.
Over the past year, the Congress government has rolled out several farmer-friendly initiatives, with Revanth Reddy underscoring key highlights:
Loan waivers for over 2 lakh farmers.
Rs. 7,625 crore allocated for farmer welfare programs.
A Rs. 500 per quintal bonus for paddy.
Free electricity worth Rs. 10,444 crore for agricultural use.
Rs. 1,433 crore designated for farmer insurance schemes.
Rs. 95 crore in crop loss compensation.
Rs. 10,547 crore spent on paddy procurement.
In total, the government has invested over Rs. 54,000 crore in the agricultural sector, ensuring farmers’ financial security and demonstrating the trust they have placed in the Congress leadership.
To mark the end of the celebrations, the Mahabubnagar district is hosting a special “Farmer’s Festival” today, where CM Revanth Reddy will announce the fourth phase of the farmer loan waiver scheme. The authorities have prepared plans to credit Rs. 3,000 crore into the accounts of around 3 lakh farmers, thereby further consolidating the commitment of the government towards their welfare. This is another crucial step in the Congress party’s ongoing efforts to support Telangana’s agricultural community.
