AR Rahman and Saira Banu’s announcement of their separation after 29 years of marriage has garnered attention, with rumors swirling about an alleged affair involving Rahman and his bassist, Mohini Dey. However, these claims were firmly dismissed by both Mohini and Saira. Saira ended these rumors by stating, “AR Rahman is a gem of a person,” and Mohini called him a father-like figure to me.
Saia Banu’s lawyer, Vandana Shah, recently addressed the couple’s divorce in a conversation with the YouTuber Vicky Lalwani and hinted about the couple’s reconciliation. She said, “I have not said that reconciliation is not possible. I am an eternal optimist, and I always talk about love and romance. The joint statement is quite clear. It talks about pain and separation. It’s a long marriage, and a lot of thought has gone into coming to this decision, but nowhere have I said that reconciliation is not possible.”
When asked about the custody of the couple’s three children, she said, “That’s not decided yet… But some of them are adults; they are free to choose who they stay with.” She was also asked about the alimony, but Vandana refrained from commenting but defended Saira, saying, “She is not a money-minded person. They have been married for 29 years, and no one has heard about her in the public space in a loud manner.”
The couple got married in 1995, and they have 3 children named AR Ameen, Raheema, and Khatija.
