Jaya Mangalam Venkata Ramana Resigns from YSRCP

This is slowly changing the political landscape of Andhra Pradesh as the opposition parties are presently heating up their campaign against YSRCP. This comes as a consequence of YSRCP being defeated in the recent polls with many influential leaders that include Rajya Sabha members and MLCs who are quitting from YSRCP to join the opposition. It has created ripples within the party, especially after a key leader from Krishna district, appointed as an MLC by Jagan Mohan Reddy, resigned from his position in the YSRCP and in the Legislative Council. The party seems to be rattled by these developments, with speculations of the wave of defections soon to surface.

With his exit now confirmed, YSRCP MLC Jayamangalam Venkata Ramana submitted his resignation to the Chairman of the Legislative Council, Moshen Raju. Venkata Ramana has had his share of a diverse political career, having begun as an MLA from Kaikaluru in 2009 under the banner of the TDP. In 2014, he joined the BJP alliance and held the ministerial post. That is, he lost to YSRCP’s Duvvada Nageswara Rao in the 2019 elections, as an election candidate for the TDP. After that, he joined YSRCP and got appointed as MLC by Jagan Mohan Reddy. Now, he has decided to break up with the party.

There are growing speculations that Venkata Ramana, who belongs to the BC community, may soon be joining the Jana Sena Party. Local opposition leaders have already started discussions with him regarding a potential alliance.

In addition to Venkata Ramana’s resignation, several other YSRCP MLCs have followed suit, submitting their resignation letters. However, the Legislative Council Chairman has yet to make any official announcements or decisions on the matter. Recently, some of these resigned members have staged protests, calling for their resignations to be accepted without further delay.

Adding to the political volatility, several YSRCP leaders in Krishna district are currently facing legal battles, which has left them in a state of uncertainty. As more prominent figures from the district exit the party, the political situation continues to grow more complex.

With defections on the rise and key figures leaving, the big question remains: how will Jagan Mohan Reddy tackle this growing crisis in Krishna district? What steps will he take to restore the party’s strength and stability in the face of mounting challenges? This political drama is undoubtedly adding to the intrigue in Andhra Pradesh’s ever-evolving political scene.
