Chandrababu, TDP keeps silent on Jagan’s Role In Adani’s US Court Indictment

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and TDP leaders will leave no opportunity to expose former chief minister YCP Chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s corrupt practices. However, in the US court indictment of India’s top industrialist Gautam Adani, Jagan is said to be the largest beneficiary of bribes, both Chandrababu and TDP remain silent.

Of the Rs 2,020 crore alleged bribe that Adani offered to officers of few Indian state governments, to the extent of 85 percent Rs 1,750 crore was given to top-ranking officials of Jagan’s government. But, surprisingly the development has drawn muted responses from political parties in power in the state, particularly the ruling TDP.

TDP leaders indicated that they have been following the ‘wait and watch’ policy in this regard stating that they are closely watching how the developments continue and how the Government of India responds towards it.

Being the crucial part of Narendra Modi-led central government, the TDP is hesitating to take its independent view in this regard, as the issue is mainly related to Gautam Adani, who is said to be close to the highest political circles in the government.

Moreover, Chandrababu Naidu himself expects huge investments from Adani Group in the state, particularly in the solar power sector also. The Chief Minister  recently met the managing director of Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd.

Government circles made it clear that as AP needs solar power, it  is in no position to cancel the Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) made with Adani Solar. When Jagan came to power in 2019, he cancelled several PPAs made by the TDP government, which caused a power crisis in the state. Now TDO circles are sure that they don’t want such a situation.

Naturally, YCP leaders are not responding towards these charges and even TDP’s allies Jana Sena and BJP are also maintaining scotic silence. Only Congress, CPI and CPM raising their voice against these allegations and demanding Chandrababu Naidu to cancel all contracts with the Adani Group.

Moreover, Chandrababu Naidu is averse to upsetting his renewed bonhomie with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP. He is aware any strong reaction against Adani Group will upset his equations with the Delhi leadership.
