Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed anger over the CID and ACB officials, saying that there was no progress in the investigation of crucial cases. He made it clear that the days of YSRCP policing in AP were over. Stating that the police system in the state worked for a political party for five years, he asserted that now it should work only for the maintenance of law and order.
But, he deplored that there is still no change in sight. ‘Land grabbing, sand looting, liquor scam, mining irregularities, ration rice mafia, and even in sports severe irregularities were committed. If such people are not punished, it is like losing the trust that the people have placed in them’, he said.
“You know how much anarchy there was in Chittoor district during the previous government. Thousands of acres of land were seized. They were snatched by drawing dots, added to the prohibited list and bought at a low price. If the Madanapalle Sub-Collector’s office was set on fire after losing the elections, is this a goon kingdom?”, he wondered.
He recalled that when the incident happened, he sent the DGP and CID ADG to go in a helicopter. But, Chief Minister deplored that the investigation into that case is progressing at a snail’s pace. What’s the problem? Why the delay?, he asked.
He directed them ‘collect evidence. Use technology to set a trap. No one should dare to commit irregularities anymore. There needs to be a change in the functioning of the police’ .
The CM also inquired about the delay in action in the liquor scam. The officials replied that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway, all the files and computers in the AP Beverages Corporation were being seized and a digital forensic audit is being conducted.
It is learnt that they have explained that they are collecting evidence in a strict manner and that key people will be arrested as soon as possible. The CM’s review mentioned mining exploitation. ‘What did Venkata Reddy, the key mastermind in the sand and mining scam, say in custody? Have the facts been verified? Are you heading towards arrests?’, he asked. It is learnt that the officials replied that Venkata Reddy was granted bail due to technical issues.
The government is serious about the police treating rowdy sheeter Borugadda Anil Kumar, who has committed many anarchy in the state, with royal courtesy. It is learnt that CM Chandrababu has expressed extreme impatience and anger over the police’s conduct in the Borugadda case and the uproar on social media.
