Congress top leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, who toured Telangana extensively during the last assembly elections, are now avoiding any government or party programmes in the state. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is planning to celebrate his government’s first anniversary on December 7 in a big way.
The Congress party and the government have decided to celebrate the occasion and as part of this, three big meetings will be held from December 19 to December 9. It has been decided to hold a women’s meeting in Warangal under the name Indira Shakti on December 19, a second meeting for youth in Karimnagar on December 25, and a third meeting for farmers in Mahabubnagar on December 30.
However, Congress sources said that neither Rahul Gandhi nor Priyanka Gandhi will be attending any of these meetings. It is learnt that the state party chiefs have invited them to attend the respective meetings, but they have not agreed. Several senior leaders of the party, including a few ministers have reportedly complained to the party high-command that Revanth Reddy is facing severe dissent from the people.
So, both Rahul and Priyanka have been maintaining some distance with him for the last few months. At the time of forming his government, Revanth Reddy said that he would expand his cabinet in two months. Even till now he was unable to get clearance from the party high-command for expansion of his cabinet. Several times he had visited Delhi seeking their approval.
Meanwhile, a poll conducted by a pro-Congress TV channel on Saturday on social media platforms exposed people’s dissatisfaction with the performance of the Revanth government. The TV channel conducted a poll on the X platform on how the 11-month Revanth government’s governance was.
To this, 61% of the people said that the Revanth government’s governance was not good. 12% of the people replied that they could not say anything. Only 27% answered that the Congress government was not good. The media channel deleted the poll from the ‘X’ account within 45 minutes after the results came out against the government.
In the nearly 45 minutes that the polls were underway, netizens were quick to criticize the Congress government’s failures in the form of comments. A netizen named Deepak commented that the Revanth government had cheated them in the name of six guarantees, while another netizen named Narottam lashed out at the Congress government for shattering the dreams of the middle class with the Hydra demolitions.
