The happiness we enjoy today is a direct result of the immense sacrifices made by many brave individuals throughout history. People fought tirelessly for the independence of our country, with some even sacrificing their lives. Similarly, the formation of Telangana was not without its own set of sacrifices. These acts of courage and perseverance are the reason we are in the position we are today.
This means that large-scale development projects require people to surrender their lands and homes to allow the way for progress that will benefit millions. However, those left behind in the process of building this progress are normally not counted with respect to care.
While some may assume that the government offers generous compensation to these displaced families, the reality is that the compensation is far less than the true value of their property. Despite this, these families made significant sacrifices for the greater good. Unfortunately, the government failed to provide them with the fair compensation they rightfully deserve. For years, these families have fought for justice, and now, thanks to the efforts of Congress and Revanth Reddy, a solution has finally been reached.
Under the Congress government’s leadership, 4,696 Indiramma houses have been approved for families displaced by the Mid Manaeru project. This has brought much-needed relief to these families, who can now look forward to stable homes.
The Mid Manaeru project, which began in 2006, aimed to provide irrigation for over 2.32 lakh acres of land and was completed in 2019. However, its completion led to the displacement of 12 villages, affecting approximately 11,731 families.
While the BRS government initially provided minimal compensation, offering 242 square yards of land to the displaced families, these families had to build their homes using their own resources. In 2015, KCR promised to provide Rs. 5.04 lakh to each family, but that promise was never kept. Later, after the Mid Manaeru dam breach in 2016, KCR pledged Rs. 2 lakh to individuals over 18 years old, but only 2,000 out of 4,000 eligible people received any compensation.
Despite these broken promises, the Congress party, led by Revanth Reddy, continued to fight for the displaced families. Through his efforts, the Congress government has now honored its promise and allocated Indiramma houses to the affected families, ensuring they finally receive the justice they deserve.
