The first glimpse of Sekhar Kammula’s upcoming film Kubera is out this Friday evening and it piques the curiosity of moviegoers with an intriguing set-up. The brief teaser gives an insight into the main characters in the narrative and grabs the attention instantly because of its gripping theme. The ending part of the teaser when Dhanush transforms into a traditional avatar with an intense look makes it incredibly riveting.
Playing out at 53 seconds, the teaser takes us into the world of Kubera with contrasting characters and their perspective towards money. While Nagarjuna appears as a family man who is lost in his own thoughts and loves spending time with his wife and child, Dhanush is shown as a pauper who finds joy in little things but runs for his life when it matters. Rashmika on the other hand is presented as a strong willed woman with a serious role in the story.
There isn’t a single dialogue and no hint about the story, but the teaser manages to hold the attention because of the haunting background score rendered by Devi Sri Prasad which is the major highlight for the film. The cinematography is excellent as the visuals are absolutely stupendous.
Sekhar Kammula is a master in dishing out slice of life drama with his realistic portrayal of emotions and Kubera is another similar attempt which seems to be a take on the contemporary world where money is above everything. He appears have penned solid characters for the trio of Nagarjuna, Dhanush and Rashmika.
Nagarjuna appears in a dignified and classy avatar and Dhanush gets another meaty role to unleash his acting potential. Rashmika seems to have bagged an author-backed role for the first time which is quite a contrast to her typical glamour characters.
Overall, the first teaser hits the bulls eye and sets up high expectations on Kubera.
