BRS Working President KTR sharply criticized Congress for its unfulfilled promises, particularly the BC Declaration, a year after it was made. Speaking at a BRS leaders’ meeting in Hanumakonda, KTR accused Congress of using the caste census as a diversionary tactic to mislead the public once again. He called out the party for not delivering on their commitments and questioned the fate of the promises made to backward communities.
KTR also lashed out at Congress for neglecting existing welfare programs that were benefiting backward classes, including schemes like Rythu Bandhu and Dalit Bandhu. He pointed out that these programs came to a halt as soon as Revanth Reddy’s administration took charge, signaling a disregard for the welfare of BCs.
Taking aim at the caste census, KTR criticized the intrusive questions being asked, including personal details like bank balances, ownership of air conditioners, and refrigerators. He expressed concerns that the public was questioning the legitimacy of the survey and accusing officials of being used as pawns in a political game to garner BC votes.
In his remarks, KTR also reminded Congress of their long-standing promise to provide 42% reservations for BCs in local body elections. He called for the elections to only proceed once this commitment was fulfilled, stressing the need for actions, not empty words. Additionally, KTR slammed the Congress government for failing to establish a dedicated ministry for OBCs, despite their prolonged tenure at the center, adding that it was time for them to deliver on their promises instead of using BCs as a mere vote bank.
