Home Minister Anitha Responds to Pawan Kalyan

During his recent visit to Pithapuram, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan raised alarming concerns about the increasing rates of sexual assaults in Andhra Pradesh. He strongly criticized law enforcement for allowing caste and religion to dictate their responses to criminal activities. Pawan questioned the rationale behind any laws that protect offenders based on their community, emphasizing that all individuals, regardless of familial ties, should face stringent consequences for their actions.

Pawan Kalyan underscored the need for law enforcement officials to prioritize public safety and accountability, directly addressing Home Minister Anitha. He expressed that if he were in her position, he would approach the situation differently, labeling the current strategies as insufficient. He warned that authorities would reveal their true capabilities when challenged.

His statements have ignited a significant discussion in the political landscape of Andhra Pradesh. While YSRCP leaders criticized him for highlighting the region’s law and order issues, several ministers and coalition leaders have expressed support for Pawan’s stance, placing the coalition government in a difficult position.

In response, Home Minister Anitha defended Pawan Kalyan’s remarks, stating that there was nothing inappropriate about them. She highlighted the ongoing dialogues she shares with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu regarding law enforcement, emphasizing Pawan’s vital role in these discussions. Anitha acknowledged his awareness of the specific incidents contributing to his concerns and mentioned her intention to have a conversation with him soon. She also clarified that Pawan’s comments during the Pithapuram gathering were not politically motivated.
