YSRCP Leader Meruga Nagarjuna Faces Rape Charges

Meruga Nagarjuna, a former minister from the YSR Congress Party, finds himself in hot water following a woman’s complaint filed at the Tadepalli police station. She accuses him of taking money under false pretenses for contract work and physically assaulting her. As a result, the police have initiated cases of rape and fraud against him. The situation is further complicated by allegations against his personal assistant, who is accused of intimidating the victim.

The controversy has ignited significant political turmoil, with the woman detailing a five-year relationship with Nagarjuna. In her complaint, she claims he solicited ₹90 lakhs from her by promising to secure contract work or employment within his department. She describes instances where his assistant, Murali Mohan Reddy, would escort her to the minister’s apartment in Kunchanapalli, only to lock her in a room and leave her there.

The victim alleges that despite receiving no promised job opportunities, Nagarjuna assaulted her on four separate occasions. Her attempts to reclaim her money went unanswered, and when she pressed for repayment, his assistant allegedly threatened her, referencing a tragic incident involving a tribal teacher from Visakhapatnam and implying that she could suffer a similar fate. Overwhelmed by debt and bank EMI pressures, she decided to seek police assistance.

In response to these serious allegations, Nagarjuna has vehemently denied any involvement with the complainant. He expressed his willingness to undergo any tests or even face the death penalty if proven guilty. He categorically rejected the accusations regarding the ₹90 lakhs and any attempts to exploit her, characterizing the claims as false and part of a broader conspiracy against him. Nagarjuna plans to meet with the district SP to advocate for a comprehensive investigation into the matter and has indicated a willingness to pursue private lawsuits if necessary.
