Controversy erupted over the space allocated to badminton player PV Sindhu by the Andhra Pradesh government. Government allotted this site to set up PV Sindhu Academy and Sports School in Totaguruvu in Visakhapatnam.
But, recently, the locals are protesting demanding to start a junior college in this site, for which they have been insisting even before from allotting that site to her. In June 2021, the previous YSRCP government allotted two acres of land to PV Sindhu in Chinagadili Mandal of Visakhapatnam Rural.
This land was given to set up a Badminton Academy and Sports School there. There, in survey numbers 73/11,83/5, 6, out of the three acres of land belonging to the Animal Husbandry Department, two acres were transferred to the Sports and Youth Affairs Department and one acre was transferred to the Medical and Health Department.
To this extent, the Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department has also issued an order. After that the Sports and Youth Affairs Department allotted the two acres of land for PV Sindhu Badminton Academy.
It is known that after completing all the other conditions as per the rules along with submitting the academy registration certificate and IT returns for three years, it has been decided to transfer the place to PV Sindhu Badminton Academy. Also, the previous government clearly mentioned in the orders that the land should be used only for the needs of Badminton Academy and not for commercial purposes.
PV Sindhu thanked the then Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy for allotting the space. But recently, the locals are protesting that the land allotted to PV Sindhu should be allotted to a junior college. It has to be seen how Chandrababu Naidu’s government and Badminton player PV Sindhu will react on this matter.
On the other hand, PV Sindhu is the Deputy Collector in AP Government. It is known that the Andhra Pradesh government has recently extended the Indus on-duty facility for another year. She is the OSD of Lake-view Guest House under AP in Hyderabad. To this extent, the government has extended PV Sindhu’s on-duty facility till September 30, 2025.
