The AP Cabinet has taken a key decision canceling the allotment of land to Sarada Peetham, headed by controversial Swami Swarupananda during YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime. The cabinet presided by Chief MInister Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday, has given approval to give 3 free gas cylinders from Diwali.
It has been decided to see that if the cylinder is purchased by paying cash, the cash will be deposited back into the account within 48 hours. Instead of taking three cylinders at once, it was decided to give one cylinder every four months. Through this scheme the state government will be burdened with Rs.2700 crore per year.
The cabinet approved the cancellation of scenery and GST charges under the free sand policy. It is estimated that the cancellation of scenery charges will cost the government Rs.264 crores. CM Chandrababu said that he will bear the loss to fulfill the goal of free sand.
The Cabinet has given approval to take sand from the Patta lands. The CM has issued instructions to the ministers and district in-charge ministers to ensure that free sand is implemented properly. It has been decided to put mineral dealers in the districts where there is no sand and take up price control.
The Cabinet approved the amendment to increase the number of members in the temple committees to provide representation for Brahmins and Nai Brahmins. The number of trustee board members in every temple has now increased from 15 to 17, to accommodate representation for Brahmins and Nai Brahmins.
The Cabinet gave its nod to the proposal to take back 15 acres of highly valuable land given by the previous Jagan government to Sarada Peetham. During the YCP government, the then CM Jagan, as per the wish of his mentor and closest friend, Swaroopananda, had given land worth Rs. 225 crores near the sea shore, adjacent to Bhimili town, at the cost of Rs.1 lakh per acre.
