Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been facing an internal strife for quite some time now with his own sister Sharmila Reddy and mother YS Vijayamma who have been keeping distance with him from the past few years. When Jagan was behind the bars in disproportionate assets cases, it was Sharmila who led the party from the front and held the cadre together. But, when he came to power, Sharmila and Vijayamma distanced away from the party as they didn’t get any recognition.
Though it was initially believed that Sharmila and Vijayamma left the party as there was no significance for them and also because Jagan didn’t honour them with any prominent position except for the honorary post to his mother, it later emerged that the main reason for the internal bickering between the son and daughter of late AP CM Rajasekhar Reddy was due to property disputes. Reportedly, Jagan refused to share the assets and properties acquired by Rajasekhar Reddy with his sister Sharmila and went back on the promise. It is an open secret that this is why Sharmila came out in public and waged a long political battle with Jagan Mohan Reddy without any hesitation.
Amid rumours that Jagan decided to bury the hatchet and reconcile with his sister Sharmila, a big explosive news has hit the media today evening. In what could be a big expose that is likely to damage the political and personal image of Jagan Mohan Reddy, a ten point letter penned by Sharmila to her brother has now been made public.
In the letter, Sharmila accused Jagan Mohan Reddy for not standing by the commitment and promise given to their father YS Rajasekhar Reddy when he was alive. She asserted that Rajasekhar Reddy unambiguously ordered equal share of the all the properties acquired between all four grandchildren and slammed that Jagan didn’t honour their father’s wish. She said YS Vijayamma was the only explicit witness.
She further added that the assets mentioned in the Memorandum of Understanding were only in partial fulfillment and lamented that Jagan usurped majority of the share in Bharati Cements and Sakshi.
Sharmila then expressed shock over Jagan for filing cases against her and their mother and said he strayed the noble path of Rajasekhar Reddy.
Sharmila criticised Jagan’s MoU and called it is against the wishes of their father. She said Jagan did what their father would never have imagined and also flayed at his for depriving own mother and sister of legitimate assets.
Reacting on the ongoing issue over distribution of shares between the family relating to Saraswati Power, Bharati Cements and Sandur, Sharmila took swipe at Jagan for not crying foul on the shares which were handed over to YS Vijayamma as gift deeds long back.
Sharmila came down heavily on Jagan for dragging his family to court without any reason and creating unnecessary disputes with them. She said it was done with a clear motive to deprive her of shares.
Sharmila further staked a claim for the 20 acres Yehalanka palace though it was not mentioned in the MoU because Jagan has reportedly gave oral word on this. She said MoU is binding document and vowed to hold Jagan responsible for executing every term.
Quite shockingly, Sharmila stated in the letter that Jagan has no right to dictate terms and conditions to her over her political stance. She alleged that Jagan included a clause in the MoU that prevents her from making any comments on him and Avinash Reddy on public platforms. She called it absurd and unreasonable to call for a settlement with these terms and conditions.
She said her political choices have no bearing on their father’s instructions over sharing of assets between grandchildren. She prayed that Jagan comes out of the depths he had ethically fallen and challenged to take legal remedies if he doesn’t abide by the MoU.
The scathing and incisive letter by Sharmila is likely to further deteriorate Jagan’s image in the public because every point is very acerbic and aimed to take potshots at his attitude and his unwillingness to share the properties. This letter is currently going viral all over as it is being widely circulated by Jagan’s opponents.
