The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), which accused the council government of Andhra Pradesh of abetting a sharp decline in law and order, was itself up in arms against the near-total failure of law and order. Former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy recently targeted the surge in harassment linked with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), saying: “A contentious issue that the authorities need to focus on urgently is the disturbing surge in violence and assault, largely on women.”.
In response to these disturbing incidents, Jagan has assured the victims and their families of his support. Tomorrow, he would take to the road, meeting two districts: Guntur, in which assault and murder cases are reported to have gone up considerably, and Y.S.R. Kadapa. According to sources in the YSRCP, the purpose of these visits is to directly reach out to community concerns.
Preparations for Jagan’s tour are all over, and he is leaving Tadepalli from there itself by road for Guntur district. His first stop would be Tenali. There, he said he would try to comfort and console the family of the young woman who had recently received serious harm due to the activity of TDP activists and local rowdies.
YSRCP sources mention that he will also provide financial aid as a party leader to the distressed family. Following his Kadapa visit, Jagan will take a special flight to reach the Y.S.R. district’s Kadapa district. After landing at Kadapa Airport, he will directly go to Badvel where he would pay his tributes to the girl brutally assaulted to death.
Tomorrow afternoon, Jagan will meet the family of the victim in Badvel and visit them to give them some hope and consolation. Then, he will proceed to his constituency, Pulivendula. The YSR Congress Party central office has come out with the itinerary for this important tour of Jagan, promising to make him tour every corner of his constituency during these testing times to listen to the people and seek solutions to their pressing problems.
