YS Sharmila Challenges Lokesh: ‘What About Promises to AP?

Y.S. Sharmila, the president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress, has stepped up her criticisms of the alliance government in recent weeks. She contends that the government is failing to honor its commitments to the public and is resorting to distraction tactics. Sharmila emphasizes the importance of accountability, urging the administration to focus on the pressing needs of the citizens rather than political maneuvering that diverts attention from critical issues in Andhra Pradesh.

Y.S. Sharmila recently responded to Minister Nara Lokesh’s claims about the government’s performance on the Super Six promises. In an interview, Lokesh expressed pride in winning 21 out of 22 Lok Sabha seats, suggesting that this success demonstrated their commitment to fulfilling promises made to Prime Minister Modi.

Y.S. Sharmila took aim at Nara Lokesh, questioning his priorities. She remarked, “You seem proud of fulfilling your promises to Prime Minister Modi, but what about the commitments made to the people of Andhra Pradesh?” While she noted his recent participation on the TV show Frankly Speaking, she emphasized that the citizens are eager to hear how he plans to address their needs and concerns.

She also expressed her discontent with the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, criticizing his regular trips to Delhi while failing to deliver on any of Prime Minister Modi’s promises to the state. She highlighted that, after four months in office, there has been no tangible progress on crucial projects such as the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and the Polavaram project.
