Ex MP Magunta Parvathamma Died In Chennai Hospital

Former Ongole MP Magunta Parvathamma (77) died in Chennai due to illness. She is the wife of Ongole former MP Magunta Subbarami Reddy. Presently, his younger brother Magunta Srinivasula Reddy is Ongole MP.

She became sick after the death of their son Vijay Babu, five months ago and was admitted in a private hospital. She was on a ventilator for the last few days and passed away on Wednesday morning.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and several political leaders condoled her death.

Magunta Parvathamma was born on July 27, 1947 to Bejawada Rama Reddy in Buchireddypalem, Nellore district. She was educated at Kasturi Devi Girls School, Nellore. She was married to Magunta Subbarami Reddy on 19 February 1967. They have a daughter and a son.

Though they hailed from Nellore district, Subbarami Reddy started his political journey from Prakasam district by contesting in the Lok Sabha elections as Congress candidate in 1991. He won in the elections, but he was killed by the People’s War Group in 1995.

Later, in 1996 elections, Parvathamma contested from Ongole as Congress candidate and was elected to the 11th Lok Sabha. But, in the subsequent elections in 1998 she was forced to give space to Manganti Srinivasa Reddy by family members, who had won from there. Since then, he has been contesting from here.

Though again she had won as Congress candidate in the Assembly elections in 2004 from Kavali, later practically she was forced to take a back seat in politics and also in the family business due to family pressures.  She is known for her philanthropist activities like her late husband and is very cordial with common people.

MP Magunta Srinivasulureddy expressed his grief and said the sudden death of Parvathamma has filled their family with great sadness. He mentioned that the family has lost its head with the death of Parvathamma. He prayed to God to grant her soul peace. He said that the last rites of Magunta Parvathamma will be held in Nellore on Thursday.

Minister Gottipati Ravikumar condoled the death of Magunta Parvathamma. He appreciated that the Magunta family worked tirelessly for the development of Prakasam district. He reminded that the Magunta family has good relations with every village in the district.
