During 2014-19, one among Chandrababu Naidu’s many novel ideas that made a big difference to the delivery of various citizen services in an efficient manner was the introduction of ‘Real Time Governance Society’ ( RTGS). Naidu established a centre in Amaravati to carry out various activities using RTGS in those five years and his vision to think ahead of times yielded fruitful results in all aspects for the state. The idea won numerous plaudits from all quarters as RTGS rendered real-time solutions quite effectively.
After Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress party came to power, all such innovative policies took a back seat as the government ignored to continue Naidu’s strategies out of political envy. The RTGS services is one among those that took a hit. Many a time in the last five years, Jagan’s government has been blamed for not able to deploy citizen centric ideas to cater the needs in an effective manner. During floods and other crisis, RTGS would help the government deliver real time solutions.
After five years, RTGS has been revived as Chandrababu Naidu is back at the helm of affairs. The Chief Minister visited the RTGS Centre in the first block of the Secretariat in Amaravati on September 24 (Tuesday). The RTGS initiative was launched during his previous tenure. He has asked the officials to prepare a project within 100 days to ensure better services to the people through Real Time Governance Society (RTGS).
The chief minister held a meeting with the chief secretary and the DGP at the Central Command Control Centre of the RTG and discussed how to make public services easy through RTG and accelerate the pace of the administration. Naidu said, “All the departments should utilise the services of RTG with regard to the master data of the people and formulate a plan as to how to extend immediate and better services to them.”
