Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has decided to complete pending works in the MIG layouts, started by the previous government, but stopped incomplete, so as to realize the dream of middle class families in the state to own a house.
Those who have already paid the installment amounts will complete the registration process and hand over the plots without any loss. Also, it was decided to collect installment amounts from the remaining applicants and allocate plots.
The previous YCP government had arranged the one MIG layout for each constituency in the name of Jagananna Smart Township to allocate houses to the middle income groups at affordable prices. It is planned to set up layouts at a distance of 3 km from the town across the state.
But it failed to move forward with the non-availability of government land in the state and acquisition of private land has become a burden. With this, if a total of 175 layouts were planned, it was limited to only 36 in the end. Out of these 36 layouts, only six layouts have been marked, but other facilities like roads, canals, and drinking water have not been fully provided.
Also a lottery was taken to allot plots to the applicants but no registration was done. Due to this, the people who showed interest in the plots in the beginning, then did not come forward to pay the instalments. This project continuation led to a dilemma with the change of the government.
Now, the name of Jagananna Smart Township has already been changed to NTR Smart Township. Officials are preparing the lists of beneficiaries who have paid installment amounts according to layouts in the state. After completing the pending works in the layouts, the urban development organizations will register the plots for all of them.
Moreover, applications were received by dividing the plots into three categories based on the area. Earlier MIG layouts in Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Rajamahendravaram, Vijayawada, Nellore, Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapur have received good response. In each city 13,000 to 19,000 applications were received.
