Mamata Banerjee Announces Removal of Kolkata Police Commissioner Amid Medical Students’ Protests

In a significant development following extensive protests by medical students, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced the removal of Vinith Goyal from his role as Kolkata Police Commissioner. Additionally, CM Mamata Banerjee has pledged to dismiss the Kolkata City Deputy Commissioner.

The announcement came after a six-hour meeting between the Chief Minister and the medical students. Banerjee confirmed that 99% of the students’ demands had been met and encouraged them to end their protests. 

Furthermore, Mamata Banerjee stated that a committee, led by the Chief Secretary, will be established to address and resolve ongoing issues in the healthcare sector. This move aims to enhance the working conditions and address the concerns raised by the medical community.
