AP Panchayat Raj Department, headed by deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan, has achieved a rare feat. It has got a world record by conducting 13,326 Gram Sabhas across the state in a single day. This was recognized by the World Record Union. This record certificate was handed over to Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan.
Pawan Kalyan believes that Andhra Pradesh is moving towards `gram swaraj’. Less than 100 days after Pawan Kalyan took charge, the Panchayati Raj Rural Development Department has achieved a world record. The department holds a world record for conducting gram sabhas in 13,326 gram panchayats on August 23 in Andhra Pradesh.
Organized special Gram Sabhas under the name ‘Swarna Gram Panchayat’ across the state in 13,326 Gram Panchayats simultaneously on the same day with four major plans for the development of villages.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu participated in the Gram Sabha held at Vanapalli, Kothapet Mandal of Konaseema District. Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan participated in the Mysuruvaripalle Gram Sabha of Railwaykoduru Mandal of Annamayya District. Likewise, all ministers, MLAs, MLCs, MPs and other peoples representatives participated in various gram sabhas.
Sarpanches preside over gram sabhas. All the people of that village participated and decided on the four issues set by the government for rural development.
Christopher Taylor Croft, Official Records Manager of World Records Union presented the record certificate and medal to Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. The event was held at Pawan Kalyan’s residence in Hyderabad.
A representative of the World Records Union said that it is recognized as the largest village governance to hold meetings with public participation at this level on a single day.
Pawan Kalyan said that it is a pleasure to receive global recognition for the Gram Sabha program. He said that less than 100 days from the day of coming to power, the Andhra Pradesh government has achieved a world record for the programs undertaken under the Panchayati Raj Rural Development Department.
