Flood Threat Increasing To Vijayawada From Both sides

Flood surge is increasing to Vijayawada from both sides. The city of Vijayawada is reeling with the floods of Krishnamma on one side and Budameru on the other. Prakasam Barrage is recording the highest inflow in history.

For the first time in history the flood reached 11.20 lakh cusecs of Prakasam barrage. All the gates of the barrage were lifted and the flood water was released below. Officials estimate that there may be a flood of 12 lakh cusecs.

After the construction of the barrage, it is said that this level of flood was never witnessed. On the other hand, the suburbs of Vijayawada were inundated due to the blow of Budameru. 24 colonies and many villages were flooded.

There was a big accident in the background of heavy flood coming to Prakasam barrage. Three boats collided with gates 3 and 4 of the barrage. It seems that the boats hit the barrage gates at a speed of 40 km. It seems that the area where the gate is lifted has been damaged due to the collision of the boats.

Officials were alerted by this incident. There was a technical problem at the gates of the Srisailam project. Brake coil burnt in 2nd and 3rd gate panel. The incident took place while the height of the gates was being increased due to the surge of flood. Officials are trying to restore the brake coils.

For the first time in the history of the barrage, the flood reached a record level. In October 2009 there was a flood of 10.94 lakh cusecs. In the year 1903, a flood of 10.60 lakh cusecs arrived. Many villages were submerged downstream of the barrage. Traffic is likely to be halted due to the barrage.

Prakasam barrage gates were raised completely and the officials released the water. At Prakasam barrage, flood water is flowing at an unprecedented level of 23.6 feet. Prakasam Barrage in flow out flow 11,25,876 cusecs of flood water has arrived. Railway officials were alerted.

Meanwhile, power boats and NDRF teams have reached Vijayawada after Union Home Minister Ami Shah assured Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday evening. The Center has sent boats from various states to Vijayawada. NDRF teams reached Gannavaram airport in an army plane from Ludhiana. From there, they were flown to the flooded areas of Vijayawada in an army helicopter. NDRF teams reached Vijayawada with about 100 people.
