The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has taken a decision to cancel the controversial reverse tendering system, introduced by the YS Jaganmohan Reddy government. The cabinet met on Wednesday, presided by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu termed the reverse tendering system as an unnecessary policy and not appropriate one in the present situation. Ministers said that it should be abolished.
The Cabinet also decided to conduct elections to the irrigation society, which was shelved by the previous government. Last time the elections were held in 2014, during the TDP regime only.
The cabinet has decided to give 21 lakh new pass books to the farmers in place of pass books with photos of former Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy. The cabinet also decided to erase Jaganmohan Reddy’s photos on 77 lakh survey stones and use them. Apart from this, it has been decided to suspend the registration of 22A lands for disputed lands.
Proposals for the establishment of 2,774 new ration shops have come before the cabinet. The cabinet has extensively discussed the formulation of the Vision 2047 document. Proposals have also been brought before the cabinet on the issue of bringing a new liquor policy in AP.
The Ministers and the Chief Minister also discussed the decisions to be taken to facilitate the free sand policy. AP Cabinet has waved the green flag for the filling of 269 supernumerary posts in the municipal department of the state.
It has also been decided to fill up many posts in the chief minister’s office, CMO and ministerial cells. The Cabinet approved the filling of 71 posts in the CM’s office and CMO and 96 posts in the ministers’ cells.
Meanwhile, the Narendra Modi government has expressed its willingness to complete construction of the Polavaram project. It seems that they are willing to give all the necessary funds for the project. The Union Cabinet has reportedly given approval to give all the funds including the pending ones. On the other hand, it is known that the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has already held several rounds of discussions with the Prime Minister, Finance and Jala Sakthi Ministers in this regard.
