Supreme Court Hears Petition To Move Telangana Cash-For-Vote Trial To Bhopal

In a significant development in the cash-for-vote case, BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy has petitioned the Supreme Court to transfer the trial from Hyderabad to Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The petition was heard on Monday by a two-judge bench comprising Justices B.R. Gavai and K.V. Vishwanath.

During the proceedings, the bench questioned Jagadish Reddy’s lawyers on the necessity of moving the trial to Bhopal. The judges also raised concerns about the implications if the accused were to become the Chief Minister, asking if cases against high-ranking individuals should be relocated to other countries.

Jagadish Reddy’s legal team argued that the accused’s high-profile position might influence the prosecution and could lead to tampering with evidence or witness intimidation. They requested additional time to respond to the government’s counterarguments.

The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing for two weeks, allowing Jagadish Reddy’s lawyers time to prepare their response.
