Prime Minister Narendra Modi took on Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi head-on over his ‘Hindu’ remark and said that the “insult” of Hindus will not be forgotten for centuries. Addressing the Lok Sabha in response to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address on Tuesday, he alleged that this is according to a well-planned strategy.
“It’s a serious matter of conspiracy being hatched to level false allegations against Hindus. It was said that Hindus are violent. Is this your character? This country will not forget it for centuries. A few days ago, it was announced that shakti in Hindus. This country has been praying shakti for centuries. They coined the Hindu terrorism word”, he said.
“Their ally compared the Hindu religion with dengue and malaria and they clapped. This country will never forgive them. This is according to a well-planned strategy bent upon insulting Hindus and their traditions. They have made it a fashion and are doing it for their political benefits,” PM Modi added.
Modi said the country saw governance and politics of appeasement for a long time and his government moved forward with the idea of satisfaction. Modi said he can understand the pain of some people; “Despite spreading lies continuously, they suffered a huge defeat,” he said. The PM added the country blessed them with a third term for their “zero-tolerance policy towards corruption”. Modi added that the credibility of India has increased across the world.
Taking a dig at Opposition, Modi said, “Country saw appeasement politics for long, we followed ‘santushtikaran’ not ‘tushtikaran’; justice for all, appeasement to none.”
The opposition raised “Manipur” and “NEET” slogans during Modi’s speech. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla chided Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi for directing members to enter the well of the House in protest during PM Modi’s speech.
“If we remember those days of 2014, we will realise that the people of our country had lost their self-confidence. The country had drowned in the abyss of despair. At such a time, before 2014, the biggest loss that the country had suffered was the loss of self-confidence of the countrymen and when trust and self-confidence are lost, it becomes difficult for the person, the society, the country to stand up,” Modi added.
