Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has mandated that the Telugu film industry seeking approval for ticket price increases must first promote awareness about cyber crimes and drug issues through screenings in theaters. Speaking at the inauguration of TG NAB and Cyber Security Bureau vehicles at the Command Control Centre, CM Revanth Reddy underscored the industry’s civic responsibility.
He pointed out that film producers traditionally seek government approval for ticket price hikes upon new releases, but emphasized their role in addressing societal concerns. Revanth Reddy proposed that films include public service videos featuring stars to raise awareness. He indicated that future theater permissions would hinge on meeting this requirement, emphasizing the industry’s broader societal contributions.
Actor Chiranjeevi voiced appreciation for the initiative, particularly its focus on leveraging cinema for combating drug abuse. Revanth Reddy’s directive signals a proactive stance, requiring filmmakers to integrate social responsibility efforts into their project approvals and public engagements.
