Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has penned an open letter to pensioners across the state, reaffirming his commitment to fulfill their expectations. He acknowledged the challenges faced by pensioners in accessing their pensions during elections and promised to implement the increased pension from April onwards. On July 1, a total of 65,18,496 pension beneficiaries from 28 communities will receive their pensions directly at their doorsteps.
Highlighting the manifesto commitment, Chandrababu Naidu mentioned that pensions have been raised by Rs 1,000, making it Rs 4,000 now. He expressed happiness that the pension for differently-abled persons has been doubled from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000. Additionally, he announced a special one-time payment totaling Rs 7,000 for July, including Rs 3,000 increased for three months and Rs 4,000 for the current month.
The pension program has been renamed after the late NTR, acknowledging his legacy in welfare and pioneering the social pension system. Chandrababu emphasized that despite economic challenges, his government remains steadfast in prioritizing public welfare. The increased pension will incur an additional monthly expenditure of Rs 819 crore, but the decision was promptly implemented for the well-being of the public, he assured.
