Chandrababu Focus On Polavaram, To Resume `Monday As Polavaram’

During his last five year regime as Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has concentrated on the quick completion of Polavaram project and every Monday he used to conduct a review on the progress of the project. So, it became familiar that `Monday is Polavaram’.

Though now officially he did not announce the same, soon after taking charge as Chief Minister, he decided to visit Polavaram on Monday and review the prevailing scenario. As Chief Minister he first conducted a review on irrigation projects on Friday.

He directed the officials of the water resources department to give a report with complete details on the construction and performance of the projects in the state within a week. He directed officials to arrange his visit for the Polavaram project on Monday.

Although the preliminary report of the project was given to him, he asked them to submit a detailed report within a week. The officials provided the details of the Polavaram project and 14 other projects in the state to him. They said that there is a possibility to complete all these projects immediately. However, it was clarified that almost Rs. 30,000 funds are required.

Chandrababu also asked about the details of the diaphragm wall, which is a key part of the Polavaram project. He said he will also examine the diaphragm wall. As the previous YS Jaganmohan Reddy completely ignored irrigation and not a single project was completed, Naidu asked officials to prepare a report immediately with the details of the works done in the water resources department and the funds paid in five years.

Chandrababu deplored that even though there is an opportunity to complete the irrigation projects, the work was not done for the selfish political needs of both. He warned that a few officials in the water resources department behaved improperly and appropriate decisions will be taken against such officials at the appropriate time.
