All key leaders of Andhra Pradesh kept silent when Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy moved ahead to take possession of key buildings under AP Government in Hyderabad stating that with the lapse of 10-year grace period the city ceased to be joint capital of two Telugu states.
AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan and BJP state president D Purandeswari didn’t open their mouths on this critical issue. Even the left parties were silent.
However, former PCC chief Dr. Sake Shailajanath only expressed regret over the end of Hyderabad remaining as joint capital and demanded that Hyderabad be extended as joint capital for another 10 years.
He said that the promises made during the bifurcation of the state have ended forever without being resolved. He informed that it is well known that the Center declared Hyderabad as the permanent capital of Telangana and the temporary and joint capital of AP for ten years in the state bifurcation act.
Shailajanath said that till then the notifications of those exams were released before June 2, so both male and female students had an opportunity. He alleged that AP students will be allotted seats in Telangana only for this academic year and the future of students is in confusion from next year.
Shailajanath expressed his anger that many problems remain unresolved in 10 years, the distribution of Krishna and Godavari waters has become a bottleneck, and the Apex Committees and River Ownership Boards are torn between them, and the Center has not resolved this issue.
He said that the bifurcation of the government institutions in the Ninth Schedule of the State Bifurcation Act and the institutions in the Tenth Schedule has not been resolved, and although Telangana has said that there is no objection to the division of 68 institutions, the division of these has not been completed as the AP government has not come forward.
He deplored that both the governments have not paid attention to this even though the trade unions have demanded that the employees be allocated on the basis of nativity.
Meanwhile, former Congress MP Undavalli Arun Kumar deplored that while Telangana people are celebrating 10th year of state formation, people of AP are silently weeping due to bifurcation issues not settled yet.
