Retired IPS ABV Denied His Role In Defection Of 23 YCP MLAs

Retired IPS officer AB Venkateswara Rao, whose suspension was revoked on the day of his retirement, after government’s failed attempts in CAT and AP High Court two days ago, has strongly refuted contention of the ruling YCP leaders that he was responsible for the defection of as many as 23 YCP MLAs into TDP during Chandrababu Naidu’s regime.

Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is said to be vindictive against him on the suspicion that state Intelligence Chief ABV had engineered defection of his party MLAs in large numbers into the then ruling TDP. As among those 23 MLAs still 22 are alive, he  challenged them to tell them that 22 of them are still there…that the party has changed because of him. He made it clear  that he had nothing to do with the process from a political point of view.

In an interview, he said that each one of those MLAs had taken a political decision due to different political reasons. How can any one blame a police officer for such political decisions? he wondered.

With regard to former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder, he said that primary evidence is very crucial. He recalled that on the day of the incident, he suggested that everything should be searched under a magnifying glass and all kinds of evidence should be collected.

However, he deplored that in Viveka’s case, evidence was not collected completely. However, he refused to discuss the case in detail as the case is still under the jurisdiction of the court.

He said that if he had done something wrong, he would have apologized and prepared to be punished.  But, he asserted that he thought he should fight because he had done nothing wrong. He said that the fight is still going on in the court.  ABV said that he will do his work for the benefit of the society and will continue to remain calm for the rest of his life and will continue to respond to the people and the society.
