Challenging the interim bail given by the AP High Court and seeking the immediate arrest of Macherla YCP MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy a petition was filed in the Supreme Court by the victim Namburi Seshagiri Rao.
Claiming that Pinnelli has threatened his life, he has filed a petition seeking cancellation of the High Court’s order of exemption from arrest till June 6th. Seshagiri Rao claimed that on the day of polling on 13th May, the EVM was vandalized and he was attacked by Pinnelli.
In his petition he expressed concern that the MLA who committed violence on the day of polling is at risk of committing violence on the counting day as well. Also, another petition was filed on the EVM breaking incident. He told the Supreme Court that the case was filed without the name of the local VRO, MLA and his followers even though there was strong evidence and CCTV records in the incident of breaking the EVM.
He said that stating unknown persons had committed the violence, the VRO’s complaint was intended to save the MLA from the incident. He deplored that the High Court had granted anticipatory bail without considering these matters.
Seshagiri Rao, stated in his petitions that even though both the incidents of attempted murder and breaking the EVM were serious, the granting of bail was a cause for concern. He appealed to the bench to provide security to him.
Seshagiri Rao stated that if Pinnelli himself is close to counting, there is a danger of violence breaking out again. He said that there is an atmosphere of terror in every village of the constituency and if Pinnelli is out, there is a danger that it will increase. The Supreme Court will hear the two petitions filed by the victim Seshagiri Rao on Monday (3rd of this month).
