Kejriwal’s Aide Bibhav Kumar Arrested In Maliwal `Assault’ Case

Delhi Police arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kumar’s PA Bibhav Kumar on Saturday in AAP Rajya Sabha MP and former Delhi Women’s Commission Chairperson Swati Maliwal `assault’ case.

Een as the party claimed she was “blackmailed” by the BJP as she faces a corruption case, Kumar was picked up from the chief minister’s residence by a Delhi Police team, a day after Maliwal recorded her statement before a magistrate at the Tis Hazari court.

Reports suggest that Delhi Police is questioning Bibhav Kumar about the role of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the assault case. On May 13, whether the CM was present in the house, what was his response, these questions were answered by Bibhav. They asked did the CM give any instructions to Bibhav?.

Earlier in the day, Bibhav Kumar had written to the Delhi Police through mail that he is ready to cooperate in any investigation. He said, “Through the media, I found out that an FIR has been lodged against me and Delhi Police should also take cognisance of my complaint.”

Advocate Karan Sharma representing Bibhav Kumar said, “We’ve not received any information from the police yet. We’ve sent them an email that we will cooperate in the investigation.” The FIR lodged by Maliwal states that she was allegedly slapped by Kumar seven-eight times, “kicked on the chest, stomach and pelvis area”, and threatened that she would be killed.

Earlier, Bibhav Kumar failed to appear before the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Thursday. When an NCW team along with Delhi Police again went to serve him notice on Friday, the occupants of the house refused to accept it.

The NCW also tagged photos from outside Kumar’s home where they pasted a fresh notice. NCW chief Rekha Sharma said a team of the commission had even gone on Thursday as well to Kumar’s residence to serve him a notice, but he was not at home.

Meanwhile, the forensic team of Delhi police visited Kejriwal’s residence on Saturday and collected CCTV footage. Maliwal had alleged the CCTV recordings at the Delhi CM’s residence were tampered with.
